A woman is locked out of her house.
Her keys, she notices, are sitting on the front seat of her locked car.
She checks her watch, looks up and down the street, and finally sits on the front step, waiting.
After more than a half hour, she gets up and walks next door to the neighbor’s house.
A man, small and shriveled, finally arrives at the door and unlocks it with shaking hands.
The man steps back allowing the woman to enter, exclaiming “I didn’t think you’d ever get here.”

Julie bought a book.
She loved the book and read it in one day.
A few days later she bought three more books.
Then as she went around her town, she noticed more and more places that either gave books away or sold them, by the bag, for a couple of dollars.
As time went on she couldn’t stop herself and she had soon accumulated a massive amount of books.
She heard a joke and was sure it was talking about her; “I gave my books their own room; now they want the whole house.”

An old man with a cane lives on the sixth floor of an apartment building.
There is no elevator in the building.
When he has to go out, he slides down the banisters to the bottom floor.
More challenging is getting back up to his sixth floor apartment when he arrives home.
As the old man sips his coffee, thinking about his dilemma, he flips through the newspaper.
He stops at the section headed “Apartments for Rent.”
