The girl walks her dog through the park every day.
She never meets anyone on her walk.
Today she finds a small boy sitting alone on a bench.
When the boy lifts his head the girl sees the tears streaming down his face.
The girl takes the boy by the hand and together they leave the park.
The dog sits on the bench, his leash hanging from his collar.

A horse stands in the middle of a field.
His owner hasn’t visited him for days.
The horse whinnies for his oats, his water, his blanket.
On the fifth day, the horse begins running in a circle around the field, following the fence that encloses the area.
In one giant leap, the horse clears the wooden fence and heads down the hill away from the field and toward the neighbor’s house.
He runs past the ‘Free Horse’ sign stuck in the ground next to the fence.

The sun forgot to come out to shine one day.
All the trees began to droop.
The flowers didn’t open; the birds didn’t sing.
The deer and the antelope didn’t play.
It was a sad day.
Not a single person noticed.

A woman is locked out of her house.
Her keys, she notices, are sitting on the front seat of her locked car.
She checks her watch, looks up and down the street, and finally sits on the front step, waiting.
After more than a half hour, she gets up and walks next door to the neighbor’s house.
A man, small and shriveled, finally arrives at the door and unlocks it with shaking hands.
The man steps back allowing the woman to enter, exclaiming “I didn’t think you’d ever get here.”

Julie bought a book.
She loved the book and read it in one day.
A few days later she bought three more books.
Then as she went around her town, she noticed more and more places that either gave books away or sold them, by the bag, for a couple of dollars.
As time went on she couldn’t stop herself and she had soon accumulated a massive amount of books.
She heard a joke and was sure it was talking about her; “I gave my books their own room; now they want the whole house.”
